High Dynamic Range Photography - Claire and Patrick McGillic gave a presentation on HDR photography in August. We said we would get back to you with more information so here it is. You can view sample HDR photos done by Patrick McGillic (member Claire McGillic's son) on this link. Here is a link that Claire has provided for a tutorial that she thought was best. It also shows how to set up the camera for taking photos to use for HDR. The program that they liked for creating these HDR photos is called Photomatix. It can be done in Photoshop CS3 & CS4 as well using their Merge to HDR function. However, Photomatix does it much quicker and has a lot of setting options to try different effects easily. Another program they recommend if your photos end up with noise in them is a program called Noiseware by Imagenomic. It is fast and does a great job at removing unwanted noise. You may recall that they were passing around a book on HDR photography. The name was "HDR Photography Photo Workshop". It is written by Pete Carr and Robert Correll. The link I provided is to Amazon.com but you can Google it and see what your other options are if you are interested in it. Note: Both Photomatix and Noiseware will run on either a Mac or Windows machine.
Classic Portrait Lighting - Kelly Klatt and Wendy Dappen gave a presentation on this topic in our April 2010 meeting. Wendy had a handout at that meeting that discusses Light Source, Light Ratio, Light Pattern and Lighting Terms. She updated the copy we are presenting here for you to be able to download. When she gets her samples of each completed, we will provide a link to that here, too. Watch for it at a later date. Thanks to both of you for a great session and thanks Wendy for the additional updated documentation.
