Crex Meadows Nature Photography Seminar - Saturday, August 7th and Sunday, August 8th at Crex Meadows Wildlife Education and Visitor Center at Grantsburg, WI. This two day seminar covers a variety of topics which include "the camera as a tool for creativity", "creative use of light", "aperture and shutter speeds", "creative macro photography", "high dynamic range photography" and "creating the artistic image". In addition to classroom training, there will be a sunset photo session at Crex Meadows. On Sunday at 6 am, there will be a sunrise photo session at Crex Meadows followed by wildflower photography at the visitor center gardens. Please see the Crex Meadows website for full information.

Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge

The Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge has a number of special events during the course of the year. You can see what is on schedule by going to their Refuge Events page. Below you can see the list I recently received from them. Please check their website for the most complete and up-to-date information on any of these events.

2010

  • September 4, 2010 - Fall Bird Tour - 8:00 a.m.
  • September 11, 2010 - Fall Wildflower Tour - 10:00 a.m.
  • September 25, 2010 - National Public Lands Day - 9:00 a.m.
  • October 9, 2010 - Wildlife Festival - 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • December 18, 2010 - Christmas Bird Count - 7:30 a.m.

Note: All programs usually begin at the Old School House located on Sherburne County Road 9, 5.5 miles west of Hwy 169.

The Wildlife Drive is 7.3 miles of viewing pleasure. It is open during daylight hours from late April through October.
